Houston Tech game into their rivalry game against Texas Central with a 7-3 record, nationally ranked and a chance to go to a big time paying bowl game. But the Chargers of Texas Central had other thoughts and they were defensive minded thoughts as they held the Thunder in check for most of their matchup today. The Chargers used a 1st quarter punt return for a TD and 4 Manny Diaz FGs to hold off the thunder 19-16. QB Carol (that's right I said Carol) Sanchez leads the Binsford charge up the polls and a possible dream matchup against Vegas State in the Championship game of the ACFA. The Sophomore QB has led da Bulls to a 10-0 record and #2 in the polls while Vegas State keeps rolling at #1 in the polls. Da Bulls have been chiming all year long for respect and it finally looks like the voters have agreed with them and placed them 1 spot back of the Vegas State Scorpions who are undefeated at 10-0 also! #1Vegas State continued to just steamroll opponents as they absolutely destroyed Montana Tech this week 53-14. leading the way was Junior qb D. Stephens who was an amazing 32 for 37 for 403 yards and 6 TDs! Add in 6 rushes for 45 yards and Stephens is commanding one of the most potent offenses in ACFA History. The Scorpions should cake walk the rest of the season and will be looking for a title match to settle the undisputed championship in the ACFA. Elsewhere, only one other team is left undefeated as the Binsford Bulls moved to 8-0 with an exciting last second win over lowly Clearmont State 23-22. Gone are the days of golden armed QB David Gibson at Pop 60. The Chiefs have struggled this year to put together a couple of respectable games. This week they took on another team struggling in the Upper Pen Lakers. The UPers have played well below their expectations but this week they came out like gangbusters and held a 22-6 lead on Pop 60 at the end of the third quarter. But then WR D. Hill took over as he had 6 cathes for 108 yards and a TD. The Chiefs of Dakota College had 8 sacks on the game - could the Fightin UPers hold on to a big conference win? A tough defensive game was forecasted and we got what we were looking for. Unfortunately one of these two powerhouses had to lose and would assert themselves as a national power. Elsewhere, 5 of the top 10 teams were beaten and the polls are in a mad frenzy as spots are switching left and right.
